A child was caught in the middle of an argument that turned to gunfire Saturday night, leaving the 7-year-old girl dead.
It happened after 10 p.m. Saturday at an apartment in the Camden Vantage Apartments complex along Jackson Street in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward community.
Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Charles Hampton Jr. told reporters the shooting was during a family gathering, a domestic incident that “escalated.”
“Any death is tragic, but when there’s a child involved, it really hits home,” Hampton said.
He said two people left the scene. A suspect is not in custody.
