67 metro Atlanta restaurants recognized in new Michelin Guide, including seven first-timers

ATLANTA — Dozens of restaurants across metro Atlanta are receiving recognition in the newly announced Michelin Guide for the American South, including seven establishments making their first appearance.

A total of 67 area restaurants were included in the guide, which recognizes standout dining destinations across seven Southern states.

Ten Georgia restaurants received one-star distinctions, accounting for nearly half of the 21 restaurants awarded one star throughout the region.

Among the new one-star recipients are So-Fox in Atlanta’s Virginia-Highland neighborhood and Uberto in Gay, Georgia.

Uberto chef Ryan Smith also received the Michelin Guide’s Mindful Voice Award for his focus on locally sourced ingredients.

“It starts with the land, and connecting with the land, and working directly with our farmers,” Smith said.

Smith, who is also the creative force behind Michelin-recommended Staplehouse in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood, described what he hopes guests take away from their dining experience.

“Hopefully a new experience to connect with nature and what the land provides us,” Smith said.

The awards were presented during a ceremony in Nashville, hosted by Charles Esten.

“We recognize the chefs, restaurators, and hospitality professionals who continue to make the American south one of the most exciting culinary destinations in the world,” Esten said.

While several metro Atlanta restaurants earned recognition for the first time, a few establishments were dropped from this year’s guide.

Emeril’s in New Orleans was the only restaurant to receive a two-star distinction in the new Michelin Guide for the American South.
