33,000 gallons of sewage spills near runway at Atlanta airport

ATLANTA — Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is investigating after an estimated 33,000 gallons of sanitary sewage spilled on airport property.

Airport officials say the sewage was discharged into a wooded area near Sullivan Creek and one of the airport’s runways.

Officials have begun treating the affected area with a neutralizing agent and are monitoring water quality downstream.
