COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. — The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of two of its deputies following a wreck outside Augusta that killed the men.
The sheriff’s office reported deputies Kenny Ingram and Anthony White were on their way to pick up an inmate when their car crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer.
“They were great individuals. They were well-liked around the agency and, really, just jovial personalities,” Lt. Col. Shawn Jones said.
Both men served on the sheriff’s law enforcement division and often traveled together, picking up inmates from all over the state.
White spent seven years with the sheriff’s office. Ingram would have celebrated 15 years with the office in October.

Tuesday morning, the men set out on Interstate 20 and were near Augusta when investigators said their Dodge Charger slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer, killing them.
“They were en route prior to the accident to pick up an inmate at East Central Georgia Regional Hospital to bring him back to Fulton County in order to stand charges,” Jones said.
Right now, the Georgia State Patrol is calling this an ongoing investigation.
In the meantime, prayers and tributes are pouring in from Fulton County. Sheriff Ted Jackson also expressed his grief, saying:
“These men had a profound sense of duty throughout their distinguished careers with this agency. And for us and this county, the loss of these deputies is devastating.”
