DEKALB COUNTY, GA — An investigation is ongoing Monday morning after two boys were killed and two women were injured in a weekend shooting near Stone Mountain.
DeKalb County police say the shooting happened on North Hairston Road, not far from Memorial Drive.
Officers found an 11-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds.
“An 11-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound, he succumbed to his injuries on scene. A 12-year-old boy was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries,” DeKalb County Police Sgt. Elise Wells said.
A 19-year-old woman and a 39-year-old woman were also taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Investigators believe the shooting may have stemmed from an earlier argument or fight. Police are continuing to investigate what led up to the shooting.
“This is an unimaginable loss for the families involved, and our entire community,” Wells said.
