2 bodies found in Georgia pond just miles from where person was killed in building fire

SCREVEN COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities in Screven County, Georgia say a total of three people were found dead just miles from each other in one day last week.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations has been called in to help the sheriff’s office in the investigations. It’s currently unclear if the deaths are related.

At around 3 p.m., the sheriff’s office was called to Whitehall Road, about 6 miles from the house fire location, in response to a suspicious vehicle at a property. While investigating, two bodies were found in a pond on the property.

On Nov. 23, deputies responded to a house fire at 1430 Old Poor Robin Road around 4:20 a.m. A body was discovered inside.

The bodies were identified as 41-year-old Amanda Marie Atkins and 60-year-old Todd Wilson Lee, both of Sylvania, Georgia.
