Loaded Guns Left Inside Store's Tent

Police in Alpharetta want to know who left two loaded handguns in a parking lot outside of a furniture store tent.

A phone tip led authorities to the guns, a Colt .380 and a Kimber .45.  Maureen Harvey and her colleagues were stunned to learn of the discovery near where they were working.

"I saw the four cop cars and a gentleman in a pickup truck.  The were all looking down at something," Harvey said.  "We were a little shocked, but we didn't see anyone leave anything."

"We don't have a clue as to why they were in the parking lot," said Public Safety Director George Gordon.  "We're just thankful the caller called to inform us."

Police are equally concerned as children frequently are in the parking lot near South Main Street.

Gordon said police ran the guns through there computers in an effort to identify the weapons' owners, but neither came back as stolen or registered to anyone.
