Jonesboro dad gets DUI with 4 kids in truck

A Jonesboro man was booked for driving drunk with four young kids in the backseat of his pickup.

Channel 2 Action News reports, Sergio Aguilar is charged with one count of driving under the influence and four counts of child endangerment by DUI.

Shortly after midnight Monday police stopped Aguilar at a road check on I-675 in Stockbridge. Police said Aguilar smelled of alcohol and blew a .09 on a Breathalyzer test.

Aguilar is also charged with driving without a license and two counts each of violating the state seat belt law, after Clayton County police found four youngsters – one as young as 4 – in a seat with only three seat belts.

Two of the children were sharing a seat belt when they should have been riding in child safety seats, police said. The oldest child was 9, according to Aguilar's arrest warrant.

The man’s wife, Adriana Salazar, told Channel 2 her husband was not drunk.
