Gwinnett contractor indicted for ripping off victims

A Gwinnett County grand jury has indicted a Grayson contractor on charges that he ripped off people who hired him to do work.

Gene Gore has been indicted on one count of theft by deception and two counts theft by conversion.

Among the victims are Melissa and Alen Delic who say Gore took more than $30,000 of their money to renovate their Grayson carpet cleaning business.  They say he never did the work he promised and failed to pay sub-contractors that he hired, leaving the Delics holding the bag.

The Delics won $175,000 in a civil suit but have yet to see any money.  Gore was arrested a year ago for contempt of court for failing to turn over documents in their civil case.

“Someone took the step of finally, hopefully, stopping this man (from) hurting other families,” Melissa tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish.

“I’m just happy that finally now justice might be served,” she says.

Another of victims named in the indictment claims she hired Gore to do work on her Snellville home.  Susan Barbee says after leaving it in shambles, he never completed the work.

Snellville Police detectives believe there are many more victims whose cases are not included in the indictment.
