GDOT: Delay of lane closures will push back end-date for entire 285/400 project

The Georgia Department of Transportation is postponing some lane closures along Interstate 285 that will also push back the finish date for the 285/400 interchange project.

GDOT said the state has reworked the contract with their construction company and is postponing double lane closures both ways along I-285 between Ashford Dunwoody and Roswell roads.

According to GDOT, new models show traffic would be too jammed up to proceed with the project.

Other delays in the project have kept lanes along I-285 from being built on time. Those lanes were supposed to be in place by now to allow more capacity to handle the scheduled closures.

The state has reworked the timeline with the builder and closures for the rebuilding of three bridges have been delayed until at least June of 2022.

Because of the postponement, the end date for the 285/400 transformation is now delayed until the end of 2022.
