2 die in fiery wreck on I-285 at Ga. 400

Two people are dead after a fiery wreck that blocked traffic on I-285 westbound at the Ga. 400 ramp in Sandy Springs on Thursday night.

An adult and a child died in the crash, said Capt. Steve Rose, spokesman for the Sandy Spring police.

“It appears they were not able to get out of the car at all,” Capt. Rose told News/Talk WSB. “The car had significant damage and then caught on fire. It was fully involved when (firefighters) arrived.”

The Ga. 400 northbound ramp onto I-285 and I-285 westbound was closed until early Friday morning.

Another person was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Three vehicles were involved the wreck.

Police are still investigating the cause of the wreck. The victims’ names have not been released.
