MARIETTA, GA — Police say they have interviewed and released a suspect after vandalism at the historic Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre on Marietta Square.
Theatre officials reported that the box office was damaged over the weekend, but operations were not impacted. Investigators say surveillance video helped identify the person of interest. Police added they are not aware of any connection between the suspect and the Strand’s owners, and that the theatre has chosen not to press charges.
Despite the incident, the 90-year-old landmark has kept its doors open and spirits high.
“All we need from you is what you already give so generously: being the supportive community that experiences the magic of arts, entertainment, and gathering together at The Strand,” theatre officials said in a Facebook post.
