An Uber Eats driver accused of killing a customer outside a Buckhead apartment complex faces a murder charge, Atlanta police said Monday afternoon.
Robert Bivines fatally shot 30-year-old Ryan Thornton on Saturday in the 2800 block of Pharr Court South, minutes after he delivered the man his meal, Atlanta police allege.
Bivines, 36, turned himself in around 3 p.m. Monday and will be taken to the Fulton County jail, police said.
As Thornton walked away from Bivines’ white Volkswagen with his order Saturday, “words may have been exchanged” between him and the delivery driver, Atlanta police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown said.
Thornton was shot multiple times and Bivines left the scene, according to police. Thornton was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.
