Second cab driver murderer apprehended

A second person has been arrested in connection with the murder of a taxi cab driver in Clayton County.

Julius Ryan Thomas, 20, was apprehended today in Providence, Rhode Island by U.S. Marshalls and is being held at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections awaiting extradition back to Clayton County, Georgia.

Thomas is charged with felony murder, false statements and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in connection with the death of taxi cab driver Rosendo Casarrubias, who was found dead in his cab near Riverdale.

Clayton County police also arrested another suspect, Desmond Brandon Nixon, 22, on Feb. 2 and charged him with murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, false statements, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Nixon is being held without bond in the Clayton County jail.

On January 25, 2013, officers responded to a report of a person at the Brookview Village condos off Roberts Drive near Riverdale and found Casarrubias with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
