Desmonte Leonard, 22 has been in the Montgomery County jail since his surrender Tuesday night. He was scheduled for a court appearance Thursday in Opelika for an arraignment on three capital murder charges.
The dead included two former Auburn football players, and a current player was among the three injured.
Auburn Police Chief Tommy Dawson says Leonard will face a judge in State Court and there will be no bond.
The decision has not been made if Leonard will be transferred to the Auburn-Opelika jail after his hearing or if Leonard will remain in Montgomery, Dawson said.
Dawson said, "Leonard will be under very tight security.". And added that special concessions have been made regarding his transport and time in jail to keep him safe from the general population.
Dawson said the 22-year-old, "was very cooperative when he turned himself in and offered an apology for what he did." He told investigators he was sorry.
