Former Atlanta Hawk Mookie Blaylock is out of the hospital, but not out of legal trouble.
Blaylock, 46, was released from the Atlanta Medical Center earlier today and, with the help of his attorney, surrendered to the Jonesboro police on charges stemming from last month's fatal wreck.
The former NBA All-Star was in pretty bad shape when he arrived at the police department.
"You could tell Mr. Blaylock was experiencing some pain," Jonesboro Police Chief, Franklin Allen, tells WSB. "He was still wearing his hospital wristband, he had a slight limp and he came into our facility with the help of a walker."
Blaylock, who made the All-Star team in 1994, is charged with vehicular homicide, driving on a suspended license, and other charges stemming from the May 31 wreck on Tara Boulevard.
According to police, Blaylock's car crossed the median and slammed, head on, into another vehicle, killing the passenger, Monica Murphy.
Allen says after turning himself in, Blaylock was taken to the Clayton County jail. There a hold was placed on him by authorities in Spalding County.
Blaylock faces additional charges in Spalding of failure to appear on a DUI charge, along with drug related charges.
The six foot guard played for three teams in the NBA.
He was drafted 12th overall by the Nets in 1989, where he played for three years, before being traded to Atlanta in 1992. He played here until his trade to Golden State in 1999. He finished his career with the Warriors in 2002.
