Two Fulton County employees have contracted monkeypox, according to county officials.
The county did not say where the employees work or if anyone else was exposed.
“The affected employees have worked with the Board of Health to follow contact tracing protocols,” officials said. “They are adhering to the guidance of their healthcare providers. We are following all CDC guidance regarding isolation.”
Rumors had swirled about possible cases of monkeypox at the courthouse after the facilities team cleaned a workspace on the 9th floor. County officials said that was actually due to a few cases of COVID-19, not monkeypox. Those employees are currently teleworking.
There have been a total of 749 cases of monkeypox reported in Georgia, the fourth highest number of cases in the country, behind California, Florida and New York.
