The family of late singer Tom Petty posted a Twitter message late Saturday to register its objection over the Trump campaign’s use of “I Won’t Back Down” at the President’s rally in Tulsa Saturday night.
“Tom Petty would never want a song of his used for a campaign of hate,” wrote the Petty family in its Twitter post. “Concurrently, we have issued an official cease and desist notice to the Trump campaign.”
As UltimateClassicRock.com reports, the public performance license tied to campaigns allows use of material the organizers choose – regardless of whether the creator wants to allow it.
