A Parkview High School student has been hit by a car while walking to school.  16-year old Jonathan Porter is in critical condition at Gwinnett Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Gwinnett Police Corporal Ed Ritter tells WSB the boy darted into traffic around 7am Tuesday, and was struck by the vehicle on Five Forks Trickum Road in Lilburn.  This happened about a half mile from the school, which is on Cole Road.

A witness says the boy was thrown onto the car’s windshield and back onto the sidewalk.  A neighbor says this is a dangerous place to cross the road, especially when it is still dark.

Police say they are not expecting to file charges against the driver of the vehicle that hit the boy.
