Gwinnett County police are investigating a shooting involving a victim of a robbery early Tuesday.

Police say the man was being robbed inside one of the units at the Valencia Apartments on 10400 Springs Lane in Peachtree Corners by a group men.

"The victim went to the door and answered the door, the suspects asked the victim to step outside. The victim said he was not interested in stepping outside and that's when the suspects forced their way inside the home,” said Gwinnett County Cpl. Michele Pihera.

According to investigators, the victim then pulled out a gun during the robbery and shot at the suspects. One of the suspects was shot in the chest and later died of his injuries.

Police traced blood to another scene where they found one of the suspects injured.

“All of the suspects, after this incident occurred, fled the scene. To my knowledge, we only have one deceased suspect and we have one that has been shot,” Pihera said.

The injured suspect had a gunshot wound to the arm.

Police are continuing to search for the suspects.
