Son charged with killing dad at auto parts business

A Stockbridge man is charged in the murder of his elderly father at their family owned auto parts store Wednesday.

Henry County Police investigators say an argument between John Wesley Morgan Jr., 48, and John Wesley Morgan Sr. apparently led the younger man to shot his 79-year-old father.

"During that altercation, the victim's son actually shot him several times and the victim did die here at the scene," says Maj. Jason Bolton.

Police say it was actually Morgan Jr. who called 911 to report the crime.

After being interviewed several hours by investigators, the younger Morgan was charged with murder in the case.

The Morgan Auto Parts Store on Ga. 138 was owned for decades by Morgan Sr.

Workers, many of whom had been there for years, say they never knew of the two to argue and were shocked by the shooting.
