Students at Georgia Tech are  taking advantage of Free Flu Shots at the Student Center. Kimberly Cross with the Health Center tells WSB that many students are concerned about catching the flu virus.

"We have a lot of students that are actually coming in getting the flu shot, so far we've given out 4,500 injections,” Cross said.

It turns out many students coming out to take advantage of the freebie  are doing so at the urging of their parents.

Anna, a senior, says she's not ill, but is sick of her mom's non-stop nagging.

"I got a flu shot cause my mother would have killed me if I didn't."

Anna says she didn't get a flu shot last year and got the flu. So this year, her mother has been after her.

"Every time I saw her,  she’d say 'so Anna, gotten the flu shot yet ? Gotten the flu shot ?’"

Another student told WSB "my dad is a doctor and he made me."

Cross says she got her flu shot early, back in October "just to make sure I got a jump on it. It actually takes ten days to take effect."
