It’s a BIG weekend across Metro Atlanta!

The City of Fairburn is hosting the annual Georgia Renaissance Festival, whereas Midtown Atlanta is hosting both the Sweetwater 420 as well as the Shaky Knees Festivals this weekend.

No matter which festival you choose to attend, get set for warm and humid conditions to return to the region.

By Saturday, North Georgia will be positioned between a Bermuda High and a Great Plains Low; this set up will allow moisture to surge north from the Gulf of Mexico. Without any frontal systems nearby, a rain shower or storm will be slow to develop, though the chance of rain cannot be ruled out for Saturday.

The Great Plains Low will move east on Sunday, pushing a cold front into the Ohio River Valley. This frontal boundary may be close enough to North Georgia and Metro Atlanta to spark up a few showers and thunderstorms with the heating of the afternoon sun.

Bottom Line: Enjoy your festival experience! Don’t cancel any plans, but pack a rain poncho or umbrella in case a rain shower were to develop over your area.
