Tropical Storm Warnings and Watches extended North up the East Coast

The National Hurricane Center does NOT expect it to strengthen and the model consensus supports that. However, I must add the caveat that there are a couple of supporting atmospheric signals for it to intensify to a minimal hurricane. It’s worth repeating that the forecasting world lacks skill at forecasting intensity of storms one way or the other.

It bears pointing out as well that REGARDLESS of it being a minimal hurricane or “just” a tropical storm, the negative impacts will BE THE SAME. Water not wind is the primary hazard of the storm up and down the entire East Coast, along with potential for an isolated tornado.

The system will have only minimal and indirect impact on Metro Atlanta weather as we would have a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms with a couple fronts and an upper-level trough in our area even if there was no Isaias.

The worst effects of the storm are expected from South Carolina Northward!

I think the HMON and HWRF are too far to the West with their tracks and landfall of the center is more likely closer to the NC/SC border Monday night on a NE heading.
