Heavy Rain Possible During Thursday Morning Commute

A line of heavy rain and thunderstorms will move into Metro Atlanta early Thursday morning.

Strong storms will develop in the Mississippi River Valley region Wednesday afternoon as a low pressure system moves through the Southeast.

Thankfully, for the Metro Atlanta area, this system will run out of energy as it approaches North Georgia, however a few stronger storms are still possible, especially in northwest Georgia.

The main timeline of the rain and storms is 12am through 7am, though a few lurking showers may remain through 12pm Thursday.

As much as a quarter of an inch of rainfall is possible for the Metro Atlanta area, though if a downpour sits over the same region for a long period of time, as much as half an inch of rain could occur.

After the rain, conditions will briefly dry out on Thursday and Friday afternoons, with daytime highs in the 70s.

Rain returns to the forecast on Saturday and Easter Sunday, though the holiday won’t be a complete washout! A few off and on rain showers are possible, but there will be plenty of dry hours this weekend as well.
