Dry leading up to Thanksgiving, but two rounds of rain this weekend

As we travel over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house this weekend, weather conditions throughout Metro Atlanta will be pleasant today as well as the first half of Thursday.

Partly cloudy skies will prevail for Thursday afternoon, and daytime temperatures will climb to the mid to upper 60s.

Overnight lows into Thursday morning will be close to average, in the mid 40s.

Thursday afternoon will be mild and dry with mostly cloudy skies. Afternoon highs will still reach the upper 50s to low 60s.

However, two rounds of rain will move through this weekend, beginning Thursday evening into Friday morning. The animation below illustrates the hour-by-hour futurecast of the first round of rain showers this weekend.

The rain will taper off Friday morning as lows settle into the low 50s. Cloudy skies will prevail Friday afternoon, keeping daytime temperatures limited to the upper 50s.

Saturday morning temperatures will be mild, in the low to mid 50s. Cloudy but dry conditions will continue into Saturday afternoon, including over Athens for the kick off of the UGA vs Georgia Tech football game.

However, the second round of rain showers return Saturday evening, and widespread heavy rain showers will move through the region around midnight Saturday night. The animation below illustrates the hour-by-hour futurecast for Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Rain showers will taper off early Sunday morning, and Sunday afternoon will feature partly cloudy skies with afternoon temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s.

As much as 1-3 inches of rainfall is possible throughout Metro Atlanta, courtesy of this weekend rain.
