Cold and dry weather continues this weekend

Friday morning temperatures dropped to 30 degrees at the Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. Meanwhile, temperatures were as low as 19 degrees in Blairsville, and 25 degrees in Alpharetta!

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City reports that these cold temperatures have effectively ended the growing season for Metro Atlanta and North Georgia. The Public Information Statement below states that the “Frost/Freeze Program has ended for the Fall 2022 season,” and the Spring Frost/Freeze Season will begin on March 15. As a result, no further Freeze Warnings will be issued until March.

However, more freezing cold weather is in the forecast this weekend! Morning lows will remain in the upper 20s to low 30s both Saturday and Sunday. Another Arctic Blast will arrive Sunday afternoon, sending temperatures plummeting into the mid to upper 20s again Monday morning.

Plenty of sunshine will be around this weekend, however the northwest wind will continue to pull cold air into Metro Atlanta. As a result, afternoon highs will remain in the upper 40s to low 50s through the middle of next week.
