Get set for one of the nicest weekends, weather-wise, for North Georgia!

High pressure has settled into the Southeast U.S., allowing clear skies and warm temperatures to set up over Metro Atlanta.

My personal barometers at home and at work are registering 1028 millibar to 1030 millibar, which is the highest reading I have observed since Mid-March.

Morning lows will gradually moderate from the mid-50s on Saturday into the low 60s by Monday.

Afternoon highs will quickly climb, courtesy of the relatively dry air as well as the strong sunshine. Saturday and Sunday’s highs will land in the mid-80s, which is roughly 10 degrees above average.

While these temperatures are warmer than average (about 10 degrees above the average high for late April), they are not quite record territory. In fact, the record high for Friday at the Atlanta Airport is 89 degrees, set in 1987. The record high for Saturday is 91 degrees, set in 1980, and the record high for Sunday is 93, set in 1980.

If the temperatures are a little too warm for comfort, there is relief: A cold front will arrive on Tuesday, knocking afternoon temperatures back down to the mid 70s.
