Autumn closing in

Meteorological Fall starts September 1st for weather and climate purposes, calendar or astronomical Autumn begins in 5 days September 22, 2021 at 3:20 pm EDT.

No big heat in sight. Probably have seen our last 90. The last one was back on August 25th.

Humidity will be up and down the rest of the month into October.

The TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK for OCTOBER is for temperatures to average a little warmer than normal for the month as a whole on average. The OUTLOOK FOR NOVEMBER is for temperatures near-normal on average.

The average first FROST of the season in Metro Atlanta typically occurs in mid to late October, a few weeks later downtown/Hartsfield. Remember, under the right conditions a frost can occur with morning lows of 36-39ºF. A frost is not the same as a freeze which is of course a low of at least 32ºF, while a HARD FREEZE is a low of 27ºF or lower.

Using the Hartsfield climate station the “official” AVERAGE FIRST FREEZE for ATLANTA is 58 days away, November 13th.

But it can occur weeks earlier in the outlying suburban and rural Metro Atlanta areas.
