ATHENS-----The 2021 University of Georgia baseball season opens Feb. 19 as the Bulldogs play host to Evansville in a four-game series at Foley Field with limited attendance due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Capacity at Foley Field will be reduced to approximately 600 because of the pandemic. Masks/face coverings will be required for entry and must be worn when moving around the facility. In compliance with CDC, state and local public health guidance, seating in Foley Field will be socially distanced and be in groups of two and four. Gates will open one hour before first pitch and please note all transactions will be contactless and cashless.

A limited number of student tickets will be available each game on a first come, first served basis. Fans looking to purchase individual game tickets can search on StubHub.

General parking is available around campus on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are encouraged to park in the Carlton Street Parking Deck located off Smith Street. To comply with social distance guidelines, tailgating will not be permitted for the 2021 season.

Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin is in his eighth season leading the Bulldogs. Georgia is ranked in three preseason polls including as high as No. 12 by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. Georgia welcomes back 20 returning lettermen including six starters around the diamond and 10 pitchers who saw action last year.

Georgia’s two preseason All-America pitchers in senior Ryan Webb and sophomore Jonathan Cannon will miss the opening series while recovering from an illness while two more pitchers in redshirt sophomore Garrett Brown and sophomore Will Childers are out for the year due to injuries. Several freshmen are expected to make their debut this weekend. Georgia returns its leading hitter in junior centerfielder Ben Anderson as he was off to sizzling start in 2020, batting .414 with 24 runs scored. Three Bulldogs already have earned their degree in infielder/outfielder Riley King, catcher Mason Meadows and pitcher Logan Moody.

The season opener will be Friday at 2 p.m. Saturday’s action features a doubleheader with game one at noon and then 30 minutes after it is completed, game two will follow. Both games Saturday will be seven innings. On Sunday, the four-game series concludes with a noon start. Georgia holds a 6-1 edge in the series history with the Aces out of the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Georgia-Evansville series will be available on SEC Network+ as part of a simulcast with long-time Bulldog announcers Jeff Dantzler and David Johnston calling the action. The complete television schedule will be released later this week.

All 56 regular season Bulldog games will be available on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network. All Georgia baseball games will be carried locally on 960 the Ref-AM as it will serve as the primary home for all broadcasts. In Atlanta, Bulldogs fans can tune in to WFOM 1230 AM. Fans can listen to every game online for free through the official website of the Bulldogs, georgiadogs.com and the Georgia Bulldogs app. Also, games that do not conflict with basketball broadcasts will be available on TuneIn.

In the Savannah and Brunswick market, WSEG 1400 AM, 104.3 FM along with WSFN 103.7 FM and 790 AM will carry all Georgia games that do not conflict with the Atlanta Braves. Additionally, WBLJ 1230 AM in Dalton will broadcast all of Georgia’s SEC and postseason games that do not conflict with the Braves. WXKT 103.7 FM in Gainesville will carry Georgia’s Friday night games.
