ATLANTA — Media mogul Tyler Perry is helping metro Atlanta families have a happy Thanksgiving.
According to WSB-TV, thousands of residents in cars lined up Sunday outside Perry’s production company, Tyler Perry Studios, which was handing out free food boxes and gift cards to those in need.
“First come, first service of 5,000 families while supplies last,” read a flyer for the drive-thru giveaway, dubbed TPS Giving. “Although we wish that we could feed everyone in need, we will close the line at the 5,000th family.”
We are excited to announce the #TPSGiving Food Giveaway event on Sunday, November 22nd from 8:00am to 12:00pm.

WSB-TV reported that some arrived as early as Saturday afternoon to line up for the event, which snarled Atlanta traffic for 5 miles.
“This is a true blessing; yes, it is,” Jeannette Walton, who waited in line for 18 hours, told the news outlet.
According to People magazine, the 51-year-old Perry funded the giveaway himself.
