'SNL’ drops Morgan Wallen as musical guest for violating coronavirus protocols

Morgan Wallen was dropped as the musical guest for this week’s “Saturday Night Live” show after the country singer broke coronavirus protocols.

Wallen posted the news on his Instagram account, noting that he received a call from the show’s producers to tell him he had been removed from the show’s lineup.

Although Wallen said he had not tested positive for COVID-19, he confessed “My actions from this past weekend were pretty short-sighted, and have obviously affected my long-term goals and my dreams.”

In recent TikTok videos, Wallen was shown at a crowded bar and house party in Alabama without wearing a mask, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“I respect the show’s decision because I know I put them in jeopardy, and I take ownership for this," Wallen said. “I’d like to apologize to ‘SNL,’ to my fans, to my team for bringing me these opportunities, and I let them down.”

Wallen said that “SNL” head Lorne Michaels gave him “a lot of encouragement,” and told the singer that the show will “find another time to make this up,” Variety reported.

A replacement for Wallen as the musical guest has not been announced.
