Friday night marks the airing of the last episode Trebek recorded before his Nov. 8, 2020, death.

Producers said the episode does not include a farewell from Trebek because he didn’t expect it to be his last episode, executive producer Mike Richards told Deadline.

The show was recorded about 10 days before Trebek died from pancreatic cancer.

“I didn’t know how much pain he was in, but obviously he was battling,” Richards told “Good Morning America.”

“He was planning on hosting the show the next week, that was his focus. And then when he wasn’t feeling well, he told me, ‘I am not going to be able to come this coming Monday/Tuesday, but let’s look at the following Monday and Tuesday’; those were the days we shot. That was as late as Thursday of the week he passed away. He passed away Sunday morning,” Richards told Deadline.

Richards said the show will be a normal episode with Trebek signing off as normal, “Good Morning America” reported.

The show will pay tribute to Trebek with a look back at his most memorable moments.

Ken Jennings will be behind the podium when the shows air starting next week followed by several other guest hosts, producers said in November.
