Traffic

Wet weather and early holiday travel may create heavy weekend traffic

Planning your start to the Thanksgiving holiday? Allow extra travel time by Hartsfield-Jackson Airport beginning Saturday, with heavy traffic and rainfall predicted for the entire day.

Expect road work for Sandy Springs and Dunwoody’s I-285-Georgia/400 Corridor Project to create more delays during overnight hours, weather permitting, with periodic ramp closures for exits.

Watch for work on I-285 between I-20 (Exit 10) and Camp Creek Parkway (Exit 2), lane restrictions on I-75/South before Barrett Parkway (Exit 269) in Cobb County, and road crews along I-85 by Atlanta’s Buford Spring Connector (SR-13) to create slow travel zones.

Staying in town for this weekend before Thanksgiving? Watch for increased traffic in Gwinnett County by Infinite Energy Arena Friday night, as country star Miranda Lambert performs in concert.

Watch for similar delays by Atlanta’s Fox Theater Saturday night as country legends Travis Tritt and the Charlie Daniels Band perform their Thanksgiving concert.

It’s two games at home for the Atlanta Falcons within a one week stretch at Mercedes-Benz Stadium! First game is Sunday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and then on Thanksgiving night against the New Orleans Saints!

*All construction is as GDOT reports it and is weather-permitting. All times, lanes blocked, and locations could change.
