Atlanta Weekend Road Construction and Special Events

It’s the last official weekend of Summer for Metro Atlanta, but “Road Construction Season” continues! Lane restrictions are planned by the I-285/Georgia-400 corridor project. More road work and delays are expected in Gwinnett and Barrow Counties during overnights along I-85 between Hamilton Mill Road (Exit 120) and Highway 211 (Exit 126). Paving work along I-75 between Highway 155 (Exit 216) and SR-36 Exit 201) in Henry and Spalding Counties, and on the west side of I-285 in Atlanta are also planned for overnight hours.

Traffic to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Downtown Atlanta will grow in volume Saturday as Atlanta United hosts San Jose Earthquakes in Major League Soccer action. Later Saturday expect more traffic to Alpharetta’s Ameris Bank Amphitheater with Kid Rock in concert, and to Atlanta Symphony Hall with the return of violin sensation Joshua Bell. Traffic by SunTrust Park will be busy all weekend with the playoff-bound Atlanta Braves hosting the San Francisco Giants, and expect a heavy flow of traffic to Athens, as the Georgia Bulldogs host Notre Dame for an epic showdown in college football Saturday evening!

*All construction is as GDOT reports it and is weather-permitting. All times, lanes blocked, and locations could change.
