Sen. Loeffler tests negative for COVID-19 but will remain in isolation

ATLANTA, Ga. — Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) is in quarantine after receiving a positive result on a recent COVID-19 test. She has since tested negative.

Loeffler tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. A second test provided inconclusive results on Saturday. A third test came back negative on Sunday.

Campaign spokesperson Stephen Lawson provided a new statement Sunday.

“Senator Loeffler’s previously inconclusive PCR results were retested overnight and the results thankfully came back negative.

Out of an abundance of caution, she will continue to self-isolate and be retested again to hopefully receive consecutive negative test results. We will share those results as they are made available. She will continue to confer with medical experts and follow CDC guidelines.”

Loeffler was seen at campaign events with Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. David Perdue on Friday.

“She has no symptoms and she will continue to follow CDC guidelines by quarantining until retesting is conclusive and an update will be provided at that time,” Lawson said.
