Just over three weeks from making his formal acceptance of the Democratic nomination for President, former Vice President Joe Biden told reporters on Tuesday in Delaware that he would soon reveal the choice of his running mate for the November 2020 election.

"What I said was that I'm going to have a choice in the first week in August," Biden told reporters after a speech in his home state of Delaware.

“I promise I’ll let you know when I do,” Biden added, as he noted the presence of television news crews outside his home, making it difficult for him to meet quietly with prospective choices.

Biden's Q&A with reporters in his home town of Wilmington, Delaware came after he unveiled the fourth part of his "Build Back Better" economic plan.

Since cutting off his campaign stops in mid-March, Biden has basically ventured only to places in his home state of Delaware, and in nearby Pennsylvania.

The former Vice President will go to Milwaukee to make his acceptance speech to a much smaller than normal crowd, as Democratic delegates are being told to stay home from the 2020 convention.

Biden was in Washington on Monday, as he paid his respects to the late Congressman John Lewis D-GA, who is lying in state at the U.S. Capitol.

Possible VP choices include Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), former Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Rep. Val Demings (D-FL), and others.
