New partnership between Braves and Comcast announced

The Braves formally announce their new partnership with Comcast for the team’s new SunTrust Park creating what both say will be the most technologically sophisticated stadium and mixed-used development in the world.

Comcast will provide video, voice, and high-speed internet throughout the stadium and the surrounding development and will be the namesake for the tech-oriented Xfinity lounge in the upper right field area.

It will also be the main tenant in a new nine-story building in the plaza that will house the headquarters of the Comcast Cable Central Division.  The company plans to create another 1,000 jobs bringing just over 5,000 to the new building.

“It’s a chance for adventure, business, innovation, and technology all working together; it couldn’t be better,” Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish.

Braves Chairman and CEO Terry McGuirk says it’s just the first in many major announcements for the team.

“We’ll have a lot of announcements in the future; there are so many ways that we’re going to be developing this mixed use and ball park development over the next few months,” he says.

McGuirk says the stadium is on time and on budget to ready for the Braves opening day in April 2017.
