Sources: Braves, Comcast will announce major stadium deal

The Atlanta Braves plan to announce Tuesday a major deal with cable giant Comcast in connection with the team’s new stadium and mixed-use development in Cobb County, multiple sources have told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The deal, they said, will include a partnership between the Braves and Comcast on technology in the new stadium and adjacent development. The deal also will include significant office space for Comcast in the development.

The Braves have scheduled a news conference for 10 a.m. Tuesday with Gov. Nathan Deal scheduled to be on hand.

Comcast would be the first announced tenant in the planned office tower overlooking the ballpark and will take a significant portion of the space in the building.

The company also will partner with the Braves to provide robust Internet service and other technology features within the stadium and development, people familiar with the deal said.

Informed of the AJC’s report, Braves spokeswoman Beth Marshall said: “The Braves won’t confirm or deny that.”

A Comcast spokesman also declined to comment.
