Wildfire damages more than 3,500 cars at Florida airport

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A wildfire Friday damaged more than 100 cars parked at a Florida airport.

Update 8:37 p.m. EDT April 5: The fire covered 15 acres, destroying 3,500 rental cars, WINK reported. Another 3,800 rental cars were undamaged.

Original report: The fire engulfed an overflow parking lot used for rental cars at Southwest International Airport near Fort Myers, the Naples News-Press reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
