In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, sports leagues have halted all games, which means a severe impact to sports revenues.
But one sports team has gotten creative, listing its sports stadium as a space to rent via Airbnb.
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the minor league AA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, is allowing fans and travelers to rent the space and enjoy "the ultimate baseball experience" starting at $1,500 a night, according to the listing.
Fitted with 10 beds, the space is available for up to 10 guests who will be assisted by a Blue Wahoos representative for the duration of the reservation. The representative will give an introductory tour and stay “just down the hall” from guests, plus be available to answer any questions.
Guests can expect four bunk beds and two queen-sized beds.
“Whether you’d like to host an unforgettable overnight trip with your youth league team, throw an unbeatable birthday bash, stage a corporate retreat that will make you an office hero or spend your bachelor party living your sports dream, [the] Blue Wahoos Stadium is the ultimate rental,” the listing reads.
Guests will have access to a recently renovated clubhouse, the batting cage and the Blue Wahoos’ baseball field.
Other perks include access to a ping pong table, a kitchenette, flat-screen TVs and all the equipment needed for the batting cage.
“A full batting practice set-up is included on the field. Guests are welcome to hit from home plate, play catch in the outfield, run the bases, enjoy a picnic in the outfield or find other creative uses for the field,” the listing reads.
Additional taxes and fees are about $325 extra.
Guests can also purchase merchandise and food packages for additional charges.
No pets or smoking are allowed on the premises.
Those who book the space can cancel for free until August 3.
