Rolfe is facing a total of 11 charges.
Channel 2 Action News spoke to former DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James, who has no connection to the case, but told us he expects a judge to grant bond.
“I expect that he’s going to get some sort of bond,” James said.
Rolfe shot and killed Brooks on June 12 in the Wendy’s parking lot on University Avenue after he fought with officers and took their taser.
James said bond hearings are usually short but this one may take hours.
“It’s complicated, high-profile cases could last as long as a half a day,” James said.
Also, defense lawyers for the former officer will present character witnesses.
“To testify that he’s generally a good guy he’s not a flight risk, if you let him out,” James said.
Also at bond hearings, judge can exercise their discretion in addition to the law.
The hearing starts at 2 p.m.
