Need WiFi? Xfinity offering free hotspots to everyone in wake of Hurricane Zeta

Did you lose power because of Hurricane Zeta? You’re not alone. Hundreds of thousands of people across north Georgia are still without power after the storm brough down hundreds of trees and powerlines early Thursday morning.

As crews work to restore power, Xfinity is offering its hotspots to customers and non-customers for free.

The hot spots are located both indoors and outdoors in shopping center, parks, businesses and more.

Once in range of a hotspot, select the “xfinitywifi” network name in the list of available hotspots and then launch a browser.

"Xfinity internet customers can sign in with their usernames and passwords, and they will be automatically connected to Xfinity WiFi hotspots in the future. Non-Xfinity internet subscribers should visit the “Not an Xfinity Internet Customer” section on the sign-in page to get started. Non-customers can renew their free sessions every two hours," the company said in a release.

Comcast says as soon as power is repaired, it will begin working to repair its services in the area.

“Emergency management procedures dictate that power must be restored first and Comcast must receive clearance that it is safe for its crews to begin any restoration work,” the company said.
