More sick in salmonella outbreak

More people have gotten sick after eating recalled Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad that has been linked to a multi-state outbreak of salmonella infections, says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

Dr. Karen Neil with the CDC says, "we've added 58 more ill people to this outbreak in four additional states."

The four new states reporting cases are Illinois, Kansas, North Dakota and Tennessee. The person in Tennessee had traveled to a state where Hy-Vee grocery stores are located.

In all, 79 people in nine states have gotten sick, 18 people ended up in the hospital. No deaths have been reported.

No cases have been reported in Georgia.

“We know that there are no Hy-Vee locations in Georgia; however, if people have any friends or family who live in the Midwest, it would be great to have them let their friends and family know,” Neil says.
