GREENSBORO, Nc — The #14 seed Kennesaw State Owls are in Greensboro, North Carolina, preparing for their first NCAA tournament game in school history.
This year’s team is used to proving people wrong. At the start of the year, they were picked to finish 8th in the ASUN Conference and went on to win the conference tournament.
For many, they’re not the favorites to win against the #3 seed Xavier Musketeers Friday at 12:40 p.m. ET.
“I think probably the chip on our shoulder is probably going to make us the most dangerous, because we are going to want it more than our opponent at all times,” said Owls’ guard Chris Youngblood.
“I feel excited. I know the team is excited as a group, we just want to go out here and compete and just really put on a world notice who Kennesaw is and what we really stand for,” Terrell Burden said.
Head coach Amir Abdur Rahim wanted to keep things as normal as possible during the 40-minute practice.
As for the players, they said they’re not just happy to be here, they want to make a statement.
