International Fraud Ring Busted in Gwinnett County

Authorities have busted an international fraud ring operating in Gwinnett County involving online car sales.

Four men, all with ties to European countries, are accused of operating the ring and at this point, it's unclear how far it reaches or how many victims are out there.

The arrest warrants are for Silviu Leoveanu,  Silviu Malea, Lonut Bodulanhe and Daniel Chelu, who uses the alias Elmer Dale.  Chelu is still on the run.

According to an arrest warrant, one of the suspects claimed he was selling a car online.  He had the victim wire him thousands of dollars to the Publix grocery store on Buford Drive in Lawrenceville.

However, the arrest warrants show this activity extends further than just the one incident.  According to Channel 2 Action News, the men were allegedly advertising cars for up to $2,600, victims were then wiring the money and the men were picking it up at various Publix grocery stores in Gwinnett County.  The men got cash, but allegedly no one ever got a car.

The Governor's Office of Consumer Protection is conducting the investigation and would not comment.
