Hosea Helps gears up to deliver hundreds of Thanksgiving meals for the holiday

ATLANTA — Hundreds of volunteers are getting ready to deliver a Thanksgiving feast to people in need.

Today, the nonprofit Hosea Helps will deliver meals to the homeless and senior citizens.

The kitchen crew at Tim Morgan’s Catering started cooking late Wednesday night lovingly laboring to feed hundreds of people.

“We’ve prepared 500 meals to be distributed to senior citizen high-rises, as well as feeding people under the bridges and highways of Atlanta,” Morgan said.

For him, this mission hits close to home — because he too was once homeless.

“It all comes from my personal story of me falling homeless in early 2012, and rebranding and rebuilding my life and my business. And I just felt a need to give back because I know how it feels to have nothing. So with that in mind, it’s just a giveback,” Morgan said.

Giving back, and giving thanks. Giving is what it’s all about: Giving turkey and giving macaroni. Giving bread and giving light to someone’s life.

“I am thankful for just another opportunity for the ability to do well and help service our community and give back,” Morgan said.

Hundreds of volunteers will deliver the meals to senior citizen communities and to the homeless on the streets.

Activist Hosea Williams started the nonprofit Hosea Feed The Hungry And Homeless Inc. back in 1971.

The event will be held at the nonprofit’s headquarters at 2545 Forrest Hills Dr. SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30315.
