HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of a second employee who has died from COVID-19 complications.
Telecommunications operator Michael “Mike” Delay died Sunday at Piedmont Newton Hospital. Memorial arrangements are still being made.
“Please join Sheriff Reginald B. Scandrett, as we extend our sympathy to the family, friends and co workers of Telecommunications Operator Michael “Mike” Delay,” the sheriff’s office posted. “Please keep the family as well as the Henry County Sheriff’s Department in your thoughts and prayers.

Delay’s death happened just two days after the sheriff’s office laid Deputy Nicholas Howell to rest on Friday.
Howell died from COVID-19 complications a week earlier than Delay on Jan. 3. Howell was just 36 years old.
At his memorial Friday, the sheriff spoke of the terrible toll that COVID-19 has taken on so many.
“It is a global virus that has changed the things that we have seen and known, and will for quite some time,” Scandrett said.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office isn’t the only department in the county mourning the loss of employees.
Henry County Police Office Rick Snook died on Dec. 27 due to a heart attack, according to a GoFundMe for the family. Snook is survived by his wife and four children.
On Jan. 7, the police department posted that Sgt. David Crumpler died. Family friends shared on social media that Crumpler had been at Emory University on a ventilator due to COVID-19.
