ATLANTA — Hurricane Ian will take aim at the South Carolina coast on Friday as it prepares for a final landfall.

As of 5 a.m., the hurricane is moving north-northeast with 85 mph winds and is about 175 miles south of Charleston.

The Category 1 hurricane is a much different storm now than it was when it made landfall in Florida, but the impacts will still be significant in the Carolinas today.

On the Georgia coast, there is a tropical storm and storm surge warning. The storm surge threat is diminishing this morning as Ian moves toward the Carolinas.

95.5 WSB Meteorologist Christina Edwards says the impacts of the hurricane will be minimal for north Georgia. The chance of rain has decreased with a total accumulation of less than a tenth of an inch. Expect wind at 25-35 mph today through Sunday.
