FBI, GBI investigating after explosives found in Polk County home

POLK COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating after a man was found injured by an explosive device in Polk County Friday.

Polk County police were called to a home Friday afternoon, where they were told a man had sustained a gunshot wound on Formby Trail. First responders discovered the man’s wounds were actually caused by an explosive.

The man was airlifted to the hospital. His identity and condition have not been released.

Police officers and deputies searched the home and found additional explosive ordnance.

The Floyd County Bomb Squad, Polk County Drug Task Force, GBI and FBI were all called to the scene.
